Titus 2:1-5
1  But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. 2  Older
men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith,
in love, and in steadfastness. 3  Older women likewise are to be
reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are
to teach what is good, 4  and so train the young women to love their
husbands and children, 5  to be self-controlled, pure, working at
home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of
God may not be reviled.

“It’s crucial for women to receive regular teaching of the Word
both men and women. But it’s also crucial that women “teach
what is good” by passing on to other women not just practical
principles but the grounding in the Word from which those
principles grow. What a blessing is the role model whose heart
and mind are saturated in Scripture, whose life is being
transformed by the Spirit into the image of Christ, and whose
tongue is proclaiming his excellencies loud and clear.
I've been blessed by such figures through the years, from Sunday
school teachers to Bible study leaders to women who simply took
time to pray with and for me. The coming generations will need
ones, but real women in real-life congregations.”
Kathleen Nielson

What is the purpose of a Women’s Ministry....?

“...First, there is the simple truth that women have always clustered
together in every setting.  We naturally gravitate to each other.  There are
feminine issues and topics that are unique to us and we truly need the
fellowship, mentoring and accountability of other women.
It’s the way God made us—and it’s good!

Second, there is a sound biblical basis for women
ministering to women, found in Titus 2:3 – 5

Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not
slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what
is good, and so train the young women to love their
husbands and children,  to be self-controlled, pure,
working at home, kind, and submissive to their own
husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

This is a mandate from Scripture, that women teach women, that we
encourage each other, that we train young women in the faith to be “big
girls for Jesus,” as I often say.  It’s a ministry that can only be adequately
filled woman to woman.

In his instructions to Titus in this passage, the Apostle Paul includes topics
and areas that are as relevant today as they were then.  He includes our
behavior, our relationships, marriage, parenting instructions, sexual
issues and priorities for our lives.  That about covers it all, doesn’t it?

So, our purpose for the Women’s Ministry of this church is to fulfill this
spiritual directive as best we can, encouraging and equipping women to be
everything God has called them to be.  We do this through special events,
through mentoring relationships, through opportunities for service,
through times of learning and fellowship, through spiritual formation, and
through programs that reach out beyond our walls....”
